Tiago Rebelo
Tiago Rebelo is currently Chief Revenue Officer at Open Cosmos, where he leads the group’s commercial strategy and revenue growth. He assumed this role following the July 2025 acquisition of Connected, the space-based IoT company he co-founded and led as CEO.
With over a decade of experience in technology R&D and strategic initiatives, Tiago established and scaled the Space and Ocean Engineering business unit at CEiiA, Portugal’s largest engineering center. During his tenure, the unit spun off four companies, including GEOSAT, where he served as CTO and Managing Director. In 2022, he was appointed a member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
Tiago holds an MSc in Astronautics and Space Engineering from Cranfield University, an MSc in Space Technology from Luleå University of Technology, and a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Beira Interior.
He was the first Portuguese participant in the SpaceMaster programme and the Caltech Space Challenge.
But as the role of space-based technology has grown, who truly owns the systems governments rely on has become much harder to define.
