Apple Vision Pro 2’s M5 Chip Amps Up AR Experience

Vision Pro headset between late 2025 and early 2026, featuring a new Apple M5 chip to optimize the augmented reality (AR) experience

Apple plans to release a second-generation Vision Pro headset between late 2025 and early 2026, featuring a new Apple M5 chip to optimize the augmented reality (AR) experience to preserve its premium status, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The Big Tech giant’s upcoming Vision Pro 2 will retain the design of its predecessor while integrating worthy internal improvements.

The current Vision Pro, debuted with Apple’s M2 chip, may seem less advanced due to the rapid release of newer chip generations. Now, with the anticipation of the M5 chip, Apple sights to future-proof the headset, aligning its release with the launch of new M5-powered Macs.

What’s appealing in the Vision Pro saga update is Apple’s decision to cancel plans for a more affordable version of the headset which aligns with its strategy of prioritizing high-end hardware and software experiences.

Apple’s focus has shifted entirely towards perfecting the Vision Pro series, leaving behind hopes for a budget-friendly model,” said supply chain analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo.

The upgraded Apple M5 chips will provide enhanced processing power, while software updates, including the latest visionOS 2.2, will offer new features like Wide and Ultra-Wide display options for Mac Virtual Display.

Let’s Dive into the Apple M5 Chip Technicalities

Apple has raised the stakes in the tech world with the unmasking of its M4-powered MacBook Pro lineup, alongside updated Mac mini and iMac models with higher performance capabilities. To highlight its M4 chip’s prowess, the iPhone parent released a creative advertisement titled “No Sweat,” directed by the French collective Megaforce.

The creative ad features a weightlifter effortlessly tossing barbells, a visual metaphor for the smooth, powerful performance of the new Macs, with the choreographed acts by Hollywood pro Denna Thomsen and narrated by Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, the ad showcases how the M4 chips handle demanding tasks with ease, set to Des’ree’s iconic anthem, “You Gotta Be.”

The M4 series offers impressive performance upgrades with the base M4 model featuring a 10-core CPU, including four performance cores and six efficiency cores, paired with a 10-core GPU.

The MacBook Pro, equipped with 16GB of unified memory and a bandwidth of 120GB/s, delivers double the speed of its M1 predecessor, making it ideal for tasks like video editing and 3D rendering.

Vision Pro 2 Sets the Stage with Apple M5 chip Power

Apple’s shift toward the Vision Pro 2, powered by the new Apple M5 chip, signals a bold move to maintain its dominance in the augmented reality (AR) market. With the M5 chip specs promising further improvements in processing power, the Vision Pro 2 is expected to deliver an even more unblemished and absolute AR experience.

This, combined with enhancements in VisionOS 2.2 and features like Wide and Ultra-Wide display options, ensures that Apple’s premium headset remains ahead of the curve.

Much like the impressive capabilities of the M4-powered MacBook Pro lineup with speed and efficiency, the upcoming M5 specs in the Vision Pro 2 promise to take Apple’s AR experience to the next level, strengthening its place as a leader in both hardware and software innovation.
