Apple’s Releases Beta iOS, macOS Clean Up Tool to Erase Photo Elements

In its latest developers iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS clean up tools unmasking, Apple gives users the change to edit their photos with AI

In its latest developers iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS clean up tools unmasking, Apple has finally given its fans the opportunity to test its new “Clean Up” feature which removes unnecessary photos elements with AI.

The Clean Up feature, including the macOS clean up tool, is designed to make photo editing more intuitive and efficient. With just one tap, users can easily erase unwanted objects from their phones.

Apple Intelligence’ latest AI tool also maximizes its smart detection tool to identify objects that need removal while ensuring the rest of the photo remains as it is. For added precision, users can choose between a circle or the brush to eliminate the item.

According to the iPhone parent, both iOS and macOS clean up features’ capabilities go beyond just removing objects as it can also intelligently fill the emptied space in photo, making it appear as if the object was never there to begin with.

The system is fully capable of understanding the complicated parts of the various visual elements in the photo through AI detection and analysis. This means, all those pesty shadows and reflections are a thing of the past with the latest AI addition to the giant’s upcoming devices and OS.

Both iOS and macOS clean up tools will completely remove the elements while generating a background filler from the image itself, as if no changes were made.

iOS, macOS Clean Up Testing Before Glowtime Event

Apple Clean Up feature follows in the footsteps of Google, which introduced a similar tool, Magic Eraser, into Google Photos in April this year.

While both provide similar features, such as removing objects from photos and resizing them using the circle or the brush, the iPhone parent’s iOS and macOS Clean Up is part of a bigger strategy within Apple Intelligence – suite of features designed to improve the giant’s user experience across its various ecosystems.

Currently, Apple Intelligence features are only available in English, with the region set to the US. Apple’s limited rollout suggests the giant is focused on fine-tuning its Apple Intelligence tools before launching on a bigger, global, scale.

Apple’s strategy of introducing new features in its iOS 18 beta updates suggests it’s keen on staying ahead in the AI race. With the introduction of AI features, such as iOS and macOS Clean Up, Apple is catching-up to rivals like Google just ahead of its much-anticipated Glowtime event on September 9, where the world will welcome its iPhone 16 lineup, among other devices and AI unmasking.
