India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued a high-severity alert for Google Chrome security flaws.

India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued a high-severity alert for Google Chrome security flaws, warning of multiple security vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to take control of affected devices.

CERT-In, operating under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, highlighted that these vulnerabilities impact Chrome versions below 130.0.6723.69/.70. Users are advised to update immediately to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data and potential security breaches.

In November 2024, Under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology( MeitY), CERT-In issued an urgent warning for Google Chrome browser security flaw to users, revealing that the bugs affect Chrome versions before 130.0.6723.69/.70 on Windows and Mac, and versions older than 130.0.6723.69 on Linux.

These can be used by hackers to hijack devices and may lead to serious security compromises.

Chrome Security Warning Vulnerabilities Identified

The recently issued notice by CERT-In lists a number of critical vulnerabilities that could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code on users’ devices, granting unauthorized access to sensitive personal information such as password and bank account details.

An attacker with this level of information could lead to malicious activities, including ransomware attacks and financial fraud.

The team detected major security flaws in Chrome’s Extensions and Type Confusion in V8. Type Confusion in V8 is a security vulnerability where the JavaScript engine misinterprets an object’s type, leading to unexpected behavior that attackers can exploit to execute malicious code. Although Google has released patches with the latest security update for Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Linux, older versions remain in jeopardy.

Users who continue operate outdated versions could encounter Chrome browser security issues and are likely to expose themselves to device vulnerability.

Browse Securely for Chrome

In view of the vulnerabilities, CERT-In has advised Chrome users to immediately update their browsers as it was said that older versions of Chrome browser are not secure for users. Google Chrome security flaws has released the updates for Chrome 130 on all platforms and sealed the security gaps. The update may be downloaded from the “About Chrome” setting option available under the three-dot menu. An updated browser restart will be apt for loading the new security features into service to avert unauthorized access to one’s devices.

Staying current with the latest update to avoid any Google Chrome security flaws most recent will keep the data safe and maintain the integrity of users’ devices.
