Indosat Ooredoo launches 5G service in Jakarta
Indonesian operator Indosat Ooredoo, launched on Thursday its commercial 5G service in Jakarta.
This step aims to support the 5G revolution in Indonesia and accelerate digital transformation and Jakarta’s smart city vision, according to the provider’s statement.
Additionally, the new 5G service will provide access to advanced mobile broadband Internet for Indosat Ooredoo’s consumer and business customers.
As for the regions the new 5G service, it will cover areas within Monas, Medan Merdeka, Indosat Oordeoo office, and the Karawang industrial area.
The telco highlighted that this milestone would help accelerate Jakarta’s economic recovery and support the industrial era 4.0. 5G services, through digitally enhancing different sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare.
“We believe 5G technology and use cases will help revolutionize the way industries and businesses operate and the way consumers access public services and entertainment,” said president director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Ahmad Al-Neama, during the launching event.
“With this launch, Indosat Ooredoo is driving Indonesia’s 5G revolution and moving the nation towards a bright future that supports 5G,” he added.
Similarly, Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang, considered that the 5G service launch will significantly help the recovery period of Indonesia’s industry due to the pandemic.
“The digital technology support brought by 5G will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes needed to accelerate the production of goods and services so that the benefits can be immediately enjoyed by the community,” he said.
It’s worth mentioning that Indosat Ooredoo plans to extend the commercial roll-out of 5G services to other major cities in Indonesia, including, Surabaya, and Makassar, where there is high consumer demand for data services.
