Meta Outage Leaves Millions with Nothing to Do

Meta suffered a global outage yesterday, on the 5th of March. The outage prevented users on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads from accessing their accounts. Before people became aware, they began to ask, ‘Is Meta down?’

Let’s Tell Them What Happened

Down Detector stated that Facebook outages had risen before 3pm, with over 300,000 problems logged.

In an early interview with Sky News, a Meta spokesperson mentioned, “Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

People on behalf of Meta had a say in what happened, but Zuckerberg was nowhere to be found. Is this because he doesn’t want to face people with the truth behind the outages or at least how many times these outages have taken place?

Reports on Instagram were seen with more than 25,000 outages. The outage itself took different turns on the platforms. On Facebook, it had users logged out of their accounts, and it made it a hard mission for them to log in again. As for Instagram, users had a rough, heartbreaking time loading the timelines, stories, and making comments.

The outage left people in a hysterical state.

What is Life Without Social Media?

A few hours after the outage, Meta reported that there had been malfunctions and service had been returned to its platforms. In the real world, the outage lasted for 3 hours at most, but in human time, it felt like two centuries.

Most people felt strange and empty without being able to scroll through their social media accounts. This led them to feel bored and maybe feel like life has no purpose without social networking sites. Others like social media influencers and models earn a living from social networking sites, and the outage led to a loss on their end in marketing for different products. Other users felt lost because these social networking sites allow them to connect with their families and friends.

On the other hand, another group of people had a different opinion regarding the outage. To another group, the outage brought them a sense of calmness that they haven’t felt in a while. According to many users, they elaborated on how destructive and time-consuming social networking sites are. The users needed a break.

To everyone that was tragically affected by the outage, It’s sad, so sad. It’s a sad, sad situation. But you do know that there are more outages on the way, right?
