AI Won’t Take Jobs. It’ll Redefine Them, Says Nvidia CEO

Nvidia CEO addressed concerns about jobs AI can’t replace at the VivaTech conference in Paris, explaining how AI might bring changes.

On June 3, at the Paris VivaTech conference, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed concerns about jobs AI can’t replace, explaining how AI might bring changes but will never be the reason behind the human replacement.

Rejecting recent warnings from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who predicted AI could eliminate nearly half of all entry-level white-collar jobs, Huang argued that AI-resistant jobs will significantly reshape the workforce but won’t spark mass job loss.

“Every job will be affected, and immediately,” Huang said, emphasizing the transformative impact to jobs resistant to AI automation yet not destructive.

Nvidia’s CEO further insisted that instead of fearing AI, people should focus on its responsible use, likening AI’s development to medical research – something that should be pursued openly and collaboratively by experts across disciplines.

Huang also revealed how AI has already changed his own role as CEO, stressing its fast-growing influence, highlighting that only around 30 million people globally know how to use AI effectively. The CEOs statements suggest that equipping more human AI synergy skills will boost productivity and unlock new kinds of work.

Clashing Visions on Jobs AI Can’t Replace

Huang’s comments came in direct contrast to Amodei’s more cautious stance. In a recent interview with Axios, the Anthropic chief warned that not all jobs safe from automation could decimate entry-level roles in fields such as law, finance, and consulting.

“The economy might grow fast, but 20 per cent of people could end up without jobs,” Amodei said.

Amodei also predicted that many companies may halt new job postings as AI systems increasingly handle routine tasks which are jobs AI can’t replace.

Still, Huang insisted that the real threat is not jobs that AI can replace, but obsolescence among workers who fail to adapt. At the Milken Institute Global Conference last month Huang discussed how AI isn’t going to take your job but someone who knows how to use AI might.

As debate grew over the consequences of AI should not replace human jobs in the workplace, Huang’s message was clear: the future won’t belong to the fearful, but the informed.
