Israeli Terror Attack on Lebanon Through Pagers
On Tuesday September 18, Lebanon witnessed one of the world’s most advanced technological attack through pagers by Israel, in which they claimed to fight “Lebanon terrorism but ended in killing and wounding over 4,000 civilians.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah has been fighting Israel from the moment Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, launch an attack on the country on October 7 in 2023, igniting a series of attacks between the Lebanese group and the northern border of Israel on October 8.
The attack was like no other as it came through pagers used by various Hezbollah unit fighters, with some labeling it as “one of the most advanced and detrimental simultaneous attacks in history.” Hezbollah made an official statement that a 10-year-old girl, Fatima Jaafar, was the first victim of the Israel terrorist attack after “pagers belonging to employees of various Hezbollah units and institutions exploded.”
The explosion of the pagers all took place at the same time around 4:35 PM Beirut time and at that time the Lebanon terror was activated.
Pager Role in Lebanon Terrorism Attacks
Yesterday’s attack was nothing but a targeted attack, with Israeli plot to attack Lebanese civilians has been in the making for months, according to Reuters. While Israel has yet to comment on the operation that wounded almost 3000 people, the attack, however, has put the country’s 8200 cyber warfare unit under the spotlight for its equivalency to the US’ National Security Agency, as it is the most influential secretive unit in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The question is where all these pagers came from and how where they are able to differentiate them from the healthcare pagers?
The company and type of the pagers have been identified; the AR-924 pagers were manufactured by BAC Consulting KFT. The company in Hungary’s capital which was released in an official statement by Gold Apollo.
One thing one could credit Israelis in other than their multiple trials of terrorism in Lebanon is their advancement in technology. The technology to target pagers is advanced because a pager is a simple radio that continuously monitors only one station. A radio transmitter broadcasts on a particular frequency and all the pagers on a given network have receivers tuned to the same frequency to which the transmitter broadcasts.
To deem it as a cyber-attack is farfetched as there is no explanation for the explosion of the pager. Another reason is that regardless the tech advancements that Israel has reached to, it did in fact go old school in this case of the Lebanon terrorism attack and implant various explosives in the pager itself.
How Did Israel Handle the Situation Following the Terrorist Attack?
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has called upon officials not to issue any statement or comment on the Israeli terror campaign in Lebanon. Following Netanyahu’s request, Israeli officials refrained from making an official statement to any media outlet.
“We made great efforts to find a non-military solution in the north and we reached a point where we said enough is enough,” the head of the Israeli Knesset (parliament), stated to the Channel 12, according to Al-Jazeera.
The statement is thus considered an implicit admission of responsibility for Tuesday’s Lebanon terror attack, which led thousands of communication devices explosion all over Lebanon, leaving thousands injured and at least 11 people dead.
During a press briefing held minutes after the explosion of pagers in the Lebanon terrorism attack that took place yesterday, the US Pentagon denied any US involvement in the attack, and denied prior knowledge of it, although Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had been in contact with his US counterpart Lloyd Austin twice yesterday.
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder didn’t issue a statement on these two calls, but Israeli website “Walla” quoted a US official who said that Gallant called Austin minutes before the devices exploded and informed him in the call that “Israel is carrying out a difficult operation in Lebanon soon but refused to provide him with further details.”
The Hezbollah response to Israelwould be to retaliate in its own way but never in killing innocent civilians.
