The Kingdom’s New Steer to Dominate the Gaming World
The rebranding of Savvy Games Studios in the Kingdom happened on August 15th, as “Steer Studios”, is investing $4.9 billion in new strategic moves to expand its global footprint across North America, Europe, and Asia. This markes a significant move for Saudi Arabia’s gaming ambitions.
Steer Studios is an international game development studio headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was founded in 2018 by Brian Ward and Yannick Theler with a team of over 50 staff, almost 30% of whom are women. Steer Studios is currently working on several unannounced games and investments, with the most prominent one being a $37.8 billion investment announced last year. The investment is set to transform the Kingdom to become one of the biggest gaming hubs in the world.
Brian Ward, CEO of Savvy Games Group, said that “the evolution of Savvy Games Studios to Steer Studios represents an exciting milestone in its journey. This major step forward will ensure Steer stands as a beacon of innovation, charting new territories within the gaming industry.”
Savvy Games Group’s investment strategy will enable and support the Kingdom’s recently announced National Gaming and Esports Strategy. Unveiled by Savvy Chairman His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Strategy is a bid to pivot the country into a center for esports and gaming by 2030.
Savvy Games Group claims the new plans will establish 250 games companies in the Kingdom, creating 39,000 jobs and raising the sector’s gross domestic product (GDP) contribution to $13.3 billion (50 billion SAR) by 2030.
From Savvy Games Studios to Steer Studios, and although it rapidly surfaced as an international game development powerhouse. The gaming scene in Saudi Arabia enters an exciting period of growth, creativity, and worldwide recognition.
