YouTube is experimenting with a new, Brainstorm tool, with Google’s Gemini to help creators brainstorm video ideas, titles, and even thumbnails.

YouTube introduced the new tool with a video posted to the Creator Insider channel, highlighting the video streaming company’s commitment to gain leverage from AI as a content-creation tool. However, the tool wasn’t fully rolled out since it is in its early stages, and that YouTube is still gathering feedback about it, to make sure it is “developing these features thoughtfully.”

For now, Brainstorm tool with Gemini is available only to an unknown group of creators participating in a minimal, limited test.

Using Brainstorm with Gemini

A YouTube spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company would collect users’ feedback from the creators involved in this test before rolling out the feature on a wider scale. The gradual implementation of the tool by YouTube allows the video streaming app to develop it based on real user experience.

The spokesperson added that creators will have the option of keeping the original inspiration tool or making the new Gemini-powered option their default.

Staying Ahead of the Competition

The new tool appears to reflect YouTube’s strategy to beat the competition on other social media video platforms. Its focus on integrating AI tools comes at a time when it is struggling to meet the increased demand. This seeks to provide something consumers cannot get on platforms such as, China’s ByteDance’s TikTok or Meta’s Instagram.

The new features also drive more creators into using Google’s AI features instead of encouraging them into using alternatives like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

While other platforms are working on generative AI for digital avatars, YouTube is working on generative AI for more content. Therefore, the video sharing website is looking forward to place itself as a valuable resource for creators.
