OpenAI has released a minor update to its AI robot, adding a feature that allows it to read answers to users’ requests with voice options.

In a post published by the company on its X platform account, this new feature is called ‘Read Aloud’, and is now available on the app, for both iOS and Android systems. Users can have access to the feature just by pressing on the displayed answer for a long time and selecting the option related to the feature.

Furthermore, the U.S company stated that it has begun rolling it out in the web version. On the web, the feature can be accessed by clicking on the microphone option below the answers.

It is worth mentioning that the spoken voice can be chosen according to the users’ preferences in the settings, since the company offers several options of voices to try for reading the answers.

Read Aloud supports 37 languages including Arabic, but some errors in pronouncing may occur, while it supports English very well.

Also, this feature can automatically detect the language of the text it is reading. It can be used on both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4.

ChatGPT has already a voice input feature that allows users to ask questions and make inquiries using their voices. The app adopts a voice-to-text mechanism to understand speech, then view responses, while the new feature operates with a reverse voice-to-voice pronunciation instead of text-only display.

Users can also interact with ChatGPT through voice chat, which eliminates the need for using text input or looking at the screen to read responses.
