Facebook, Instagram Down Worldwide

Facebook and Instagram experience worldwide outage: users unable to access world's most popular social media platforms.

Facebook and Instagram have suffered massive outages, leaving tens of thousands of users worldwide unable to access the popular social media platforms.

Both of the Meta-owned sites have suffered serious outages in recent weeks, but never at the same time.

Today, users encountering access issues with their Facebook and Instagram accounts are part of a widespread disruption. The outages began around 3:00pm and have persisted, with no immediate resolution in sight. Thousands have been affected by what appears to be a significant technical glitch on both platforms.

While the root cause of the outage is still undetermined, a number concerned of Facebook and Instagram users have redirected their frustrations to X, highlighting their displeasure and seeking updates.

According to Downdetector, a service that tracks similar outages worldwide, there have been around 90,000 reports regarding Facebook’s downtime and over 16,000 related to Instagram. The numbers could increase. This situation represents one of the most substantial operational challenges for Meta, the conglomerate that owns both platforms, in recent memory.
