Wars Fought on Coded Clouds Rather Than Battlefields

In May, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI intensified their AI coding in war use by being able to detect if code is written by AI.

This May, tech giants Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI stepped up their aggression in their battle for dominance in the $12.6 billion AI coding market, launching advanced tools that not only generate software but can also detect if code is written by AI.

Google’s coding agent Jules, Microsoft’s GitHub AI agent, and OpenAI’s upgraded Codex – just after its $3 billion Windsurf acquisition – now handle 30% of corporate coding tasks, with projections suggesting 80% adoption soon.

Startups like Cursor and Bolt already show the sector’s profitability, earning $300 million annually by boosting engineer productivity by 10 to 20%. Such conduct simply goes to show that at its core, enterprises will only pay premium prices for even marginal efficiency gains in development workflows.

“The biggest money-making venture for LLMs is in generating code. If you look at Cursor, it is doing $300 million in annual recurring revenue in two years, and other firms such as Bolt, New, Lovable, have insane revenues right now,” said Shashank Agarwal, founder of large language model (LLM) evaluation platform, Noveum.

He went on to say further that companies are willing to pay big dollars if AI tools can detect AI written code even at a 10–20% productivity improvement for engineers.

InMobi founder, Naveen Tewari, claims that an AI written code has an aim to reach 80%, explaining how there is no option in the future but the use of AI codes – which is backed by data.

Coding Productivity With AI

Once upon a time war was bloody, but today it has become virtual. As the productivity impact of AI coding tools is highly available, wars have come to be subtle battles of software, data, and automation. As programming tools become more powerful, and AI more autonomous, the dream of controlling financial, military, or governmental systems, in just the press of a button is no longer a science fiction tale. The technological shift places serious questions about control, security, and the ethics of automation in jeopardy.

The tools that detect if code is written by AI are used to help developers build apps and are now capable of designing an entire infrastructure. A single bug in an AI code for python might lead to worldwide sabotage. Code in this new era isn’t just creation, it’s a weapon, quietly wielded and felt globally.

Are AI Coding Assistants Really Saving Time and Money?

While the benefits of seeking to detect if code is written by AI are obvious, there are challenges. Tewari explained that while all these tools can do 70% coding, “people are confusing the 70% success as saying everyone can use AI to code. But it is not something you can put in production, and you need experts to take it from 70% to 100%.”

Aryan Yadav, co-founder of wearable technology firm Neosapiens, believes commoditization of software development is empowering non-technologists.  Automation of coding is one of the most popular spaces, he said, claiming the ability to construct simple websites and chatbots without learning AI in python code in the traditional sense.
