Smart-Meter Management System Integrates eSIM for the First Time

Netherlands-based Netinium integrates Telit Cinterion's eSIM provisioning software into its multi-vendor HES, enhancing eSIM smart meter.

Netherlands-based Netinium integrates Telit Cinterion’s eSIM provisioning software into its multi-vendor head-end system (HES), enhancing eSIM smart meter and grid management.

The new solution will smoothen the complications in the deployment of smart eSIM meters, as well as managing subscriptions remotely and attaining network changes over just eSIM profile swaps.

Solution for Smart Grids That Is First of Its Kind

The new solution is based on Netinium’s vendor-agnostic HES platform, which offers data collection from meters, gateways, and other devices in a single operational system.

This will be made possible by integrating Telit Cinterion’s NExT eSIM for smart meters system. The new solution will introduce remote management of the SIM profile without the need for a separate system for SIM management. This reduces cost and complexity and increases the security and reliability of smart grid deployment.

The companies describe the collaboration as an “industry-first smart grid solution, offering a single platform for both meter and SIM management.”

It is compliant with GSMA SGP.32 and can enable utilities to activate smart eSIM and perform internet of things (IoT) airtime changes as part of standard meter configuration tasks, reducing the number of protocols, along with reinforcing cybersecurity, making large-scale eSIM registration smart meter deployments and management more straightforward.

Security and Efficiency of eSIM Smart Meter

Ferry Cserep, CEO of Netinium, underlined the benefit of this partnership: “Innovators find each other, making Telit Cinterion the perfect partner. The NExT eSIM smart meter provisioning service provides the ultimate in flexibility throughout the smart meter lifecycle. We integrate it into our HES to offer our customers industry-leading simplicity and security.”

eSIM technology, along with the GSMA SGP.32 spec, together fundamentally change how smart meters are provisioned, managed, and secured. Our partnership with Netinium takes those foundational elements to the next level by layering on a comprehensive suite of capabilities that directly address the top challenges to smart grid deployment and operation,” according to Telit Cinterion’s Senior Director of Product Management, Jose Sanchez.

This integration of Telit Cinterion’s eSIM system into Netinium’s HES platform sets a new standard for utilities management with efficiency, security, and scalability within the smart grid, answering the critical question of “How to use smart eSIM meter “technology effectively.
