Samsung, Google Compete for Glory at Unpacked Event

Samsung uncloaked their vision of what Agentic AI would be able to do smartphones, specifically the newer, AI-level smart Galaxy S25 series.

On Thursday, at Samsung’s biggest yearly event, Unpacked, the South Korean giant uncloaked their vision of what Agentic AI would be able to do smartphones, specifically the newer, AI-level smart Galaxy S25 series.

During the event, while Samsung took the spotlight with its conversation on the endless AI capabilities its Galaxy S25 phone, Google representatives at the event, alongside the South Korea giant, took to itself to highlight what Agentic AI would be able to accomplish through its integration with the Galaxy S25 phone.

What Is Agentic AI?

Agentic AI composes machine learning, large language models, and automation into a bunch of semi-autonomous AI capable of adapting to changing conditions. Until now, the technology has only been used in industrial settings for automation, with Samsung now bringing it onto smartphones to improve user experiences, where devices become more responsive and context aware

Agentic AI possesses indispensable core features: analyzing vast data volumes, setting goals, and acting upon them. It allows smartphones to adapt to new data in real time and learn insight and personalization.

Agentic AI Powers Galaxy S25 Phone

Running the Galaxy S25 series is a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip with an extremely powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU) at the heart of Agentic AI, enabling any new Galaxy phone S25 to cohesively process data in organizing photos, making proactive suggestions, and giving smarter responses to queries.

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 comes with an AI assistant that goes beyond just pulling up the first matching image when users ask for something. It considers things like metadata and context to make sure the most relevant result appears.

Agentic AI also helps in day-to-day decision, such as taking users along routes with less traffic or reminding users to take an umbrella even when it is apparently a sunny day. Anticipating based on patterns, the AI blocks one’s needs for the smooth operation of a day.

From Google’s end, however, Gemini is getting new features like support for multi-extension, which facilitates users to use commands.

For example, “find the closest Kebab to me and share it with Drew “, then, it provides information from the assistant results inside Google Maps and at the same time, send a message, via Google messages.

That is currently available with Pixel 9 series phones and will soon be rolled out on the Samsung Galaxy S25 phones. Besides, Gemini now can handle multimedia conversations, including images, videos, and local files, extending its capability to respond to users’ needs in a more interactive manner.

Another feature, Deep Research, introduced by Google in Gemini, and it revolutionizes the way users do web searches on the Samsung Galaxy S25 ultra phones. It doesn’t scratch any source, rather, it takes data only from sources that are very reliable and trusted.

Samsung dives deeper into Agentic AI, while at Google, the introduction of Gemini pushes the Galaxy S25 ultra phone from its mere functional device to an intuitive assistant and smart device.  These technologies are set to evolve and give even more customized, proactive, autonomous functionality to shape up the future course of mobile usage.
