Honeywell, Google Team Up for AI in Industrial Automation
On Monday, Honeywell and Google announced their collaboration that combines their expertise in the fields of AI and industrial data, further pushing advancements in AI in industrial automation.
The newly woven deal will rejuvenate operations, making them easier for Honeywell’s customers by offering Google’s advanced AI technologies with Honeywell’s Industrial Data platform, Forge.
The collaboration would also integrate Google’s latest and most advanced AI model, Gemini, in a bid to streamline the industry by increasing the role of AI in industry automation.
AI for Industrial Automation
By combing Gemini model’s power with Honeywell’s data platform, Froge, both companies aim simplify and accelerate the most complex projects as a means of improving efficiency across the most labor-deprived industries and the potential of generative AI in industrial automation.
Vimal Kapur, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Honeywell highlighted the importance of task automation in industries, as it helps workers to achieve more efficiently.
“The path to autonomy requires assets working harder, people working smarter and processes working more efficiently,” Kapur said in a statement.
By merging the capabilities of both Google and Honeywell, more than 100,000 engineers, warehouse workers, and technicians will be able to automate their routine tasks. Honeywell, the multinational firm, plans to introduce AI-powered tools that integrate with Vertex AI platform from Google for processing data from images, videos, and sensors for new advancements industrial automation using AI.
The tools will bring about productivity within the AI automation industry decreasing project design times, increasing output, and magnifying productivity for general operational activities.
Reducing Costs and Upskilling Workers
Honeywell believes this integration of AI will decrease the maintenance cost for customers and further improve productivity. AI in industrial automation will free workers to handle higher-level tasks, increasing both productivity and quality for industries to be impacted by AI based automation.
In addition to that, it seeks to “upskill employees” through such developments, preparing the workforce for new demands placed by the industry in the process.
It is worth mentioning that the outcomes of this partnership, mainly regarding the AI solutions to be offered, are expected to reach customers in 2025.
As AI is being further integrated in almost every industry, such collaboration and merging of capabilities between two major companies, Google and Honeywell will not only optimize the processes within the industrial operations, but also figure out a way to address issues that most businesses are facing nowadays, which are shortage in workers and high operational costs.
