Huawei Watch Ultimate Is the Hidden Gem of Smartwatches 

In its userbase, Huawei has a strong reputation for producing quality smartwatches, but the newest model, the Huawei Watch Ultimate could be taking the Chinese giant’s offering to a new level, blending luxury with functionality. 

The Huawei Watch Ultimate has some rather nice features, combining luxury and functionality. However, at about £750, or around $983, it is a smartwatch you might never have heard about. Having used it for a few days, I’ve been charmed by its design, ease of use, and upmarket features. 

Adventurous Style for the Daring from Different Angles 

Huawei Watch Ultimate specs meet the needs of an increasingly crowded market of adventure-focused smartwatches in the form of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, leaning heavily into the style of a high-end traditional watch.  

The Huawei Watch Ultimate design features a 48mm case made from zirconium-based liquid metal, which feels incredibly solid and heavy in the hand for a premium feel. Its ceramic bezel gleams under the light, and it’s accompanied by three buttons on its side for a high-class feel and look. 

While I didn’t particularly love the Huawei Watch Ultimate script around the bezel or the dimpled texture of the lugs, which seems to have been inspired by a golf ball, the Huawei Watch Ultimate smartwatch still delivers a luxurious aesthetic.  

It’s far from subtle: big, chunky, and designed to command attention, delivering a premium look and feel. 

The Watch Ultimate is certainly large, stretching across my wrist and standing 13mm thick, making it hard to fit under a shirt cuff. If you like your watches to make a statement, then this may be the one for you. As well as the rugged rubber strap, Huawei also includes a titanium metal bracelet in the box, adding some versatility to its styling options. 

Easy Setup and Capable Features 

Setting up the Huawei Watch Ultimate was smooth and quite easy, considering some of the finicky Huawei devices can get. You will need to download the Huawei Health app, which is available from the iOS App Store if you’re using an iPhone, or if using a Samsung Galaxy device, from the Samsung Galaxy App Store. If you are running on Android, you’ll want to download it off the Huawei AppGallery.  

Once it’s all set up, the smartwatch works seamlessly. You can’t act upon notifications unless you’re using a Huawei phone, but the watch is still a treat to wear. Huawei has refined its software more than in previous years, and the general user experience is easy and logical. Its 1.5-inch AMOLED display is bright and responsive, and there’s a variety of well-designed watch faces, all adjustable for personal style. 

Features for an Active Lifestyle 

Indeed, the Huawei Watch Ultimate is more than just good looks; it’s packed with functional features. From tracking outdoor expeditions with waypoint systems to detailed golf performance, this smartwatch is for adventurers and sports lovers alike. As most of the features in golf remain untested by me, the watch houses an exclusive app to keep scorecards of courses and driving ranges and shot distances that should be ideal for serious golfers. It also claims to lock in the GPS signal fast for hiking, while other useful features, like a guide back system, help you keep on track. 

The Huawei Watch Ultimate exudes luxury while sporting features designed for outdoor and sporting activities. One of the standout qualities is its Huawei Watch Ultimate battery life, making the Ultimate a strong player in the premium smartwatch segment, just a bit under the radar.
