iPhone 15 Pro Feature ChatGPT Integration Changes Voice Assistants

iPhone 15 Pro users are now able to transform their devices into ChatGPT-powered voice assistants by utilizing the phone’s Action Button.

The iPhone 15 Pro’s Action Button, situated above the volume controls, is programmable for a various tasks, replacing the traditional mute switch. Its versatility allows users to customize various functions, from simple operations like opening the camera to complex actions such as initiating voice commands.

A tech enthusiast recently shared their experience of repurposing the Action Button to activate OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a leading AI chatbot. The process involves downloading the free ChatGPT app from the App Store and configuring the Action Button through the iPhone’s settings to launch ChatGPT’s “Start voice conversations” shortcut.

ChatGPT’s voice functionality, which interprets spoken queries and responds with AI-generated answers, stands out for its efficiency and user-friendly interface. The voice feature, previously limited to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, is now accessible to all users, offering a diverse range of voice options and real-time response transcripts.

While ChatGPT excels in responding to a variety of questions, it does not currently support tasks like making phone calls or controlling smart home devices, areas where Siri, Apple’s native voice assistant, continues to dominate. However, the flexibility of the iPhone allows for the concurrent use of both Siri and ChatGPT, providing users with an enriched and versatile experience.

Despite ChatGPT’s limitations in certain areas, its advanced language model and conversational capabilities make it a strong contender of voice assistants.
