Microsoft to Enhance Copilot with Cybersecurity

Microsoft is introducing a new addition to its AI assistant, dubbed Copilot for Security, extending its reach into the cybersecurity domain.

Microsoft is gearing up to introduce a new addition to its AI assistant, dubbed Copilot for Security, in the upcoming month, extending its reach into the cybersecurity domain.

Shaped for cybersecurity experts, this functionality aims to aid in threat mitigation.

Unlike Copilot for Microsoft 365, it will not be accessible through a monthly subscription. Instead, companies will be billed $4 per hour of utilization under a consumption model.

Operating as a chatbot, Copilot for Security is driven by the GPT-4’s OpenAI language model and Microsoft’s security framework. This service grants cybersecurity experts access to current information on security incidents, threat summaries, and more.

Microsoft started testing this chatbot nearly a year ago, giving access to the latest information regarding security threats and Microsoft’s daily signals, which amount to 78 trillion signals gathered by the company through threat intelligence.

The giant’s new feature has a dashboard section that aims to enhance collaboration between cybersecurity employees. It also can summarize events to make reporting easier. Like many other AI-powered chatbots, users can use natural language inputs, upload files for analysis, or even allow Copilot for Security to analyze code instructions.

The service records all requests in an audit logbook to review them later. The pricing model is designed to enable companies to expand in line with their AI-supported cybersecurity endeavors; thus, the company explains that its pricing model covers both the standalone use of Copilot and its integration into Microsoft Security products.

“A consumption model means it will be easy to get started quickly and on a small scale, to experiment and learn with no upfront per device or per user charges”, it added.

Microsoft’s move toward AI in cybersecurity comes as the company faces attacks from state-sponsored Russian hackers.
