On July 6, Samsung announced that it will be unveiling its next-generation folding phones at its Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for July 26. The company has teased the event with the slogan “Join the flip side,” hinting at the exciting features of the upcoming devices, which are expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

“A new cultural driver is coming,” said the invitation. “Come along on our journey to discover an all-new Galaxy as we showcase our latest technologies designed to open possibilities and transform lives. It’s going to make you want to Join the flip side.”

The Galaxy Unpacked event will be live-streamed on Samsung’s website and YouTube channel, starting at 4 a.m. Pacific / 7 a.m. Eastern time. This event holds great significance as it will be the first time an Unpacked event is held in Samsung’s home country of South Korea, “a place where traditional culture and futuristic visions intersect to inspire global trends and game-changing innovation.”

The competition in the foldable phone market has been heating up, with Motorola’s Moto Razr+ making waves with its sleek external screen. To stay ahead in this competitive space, Samsung will need to match the appealing design of the Razr+ with its Z Flip 5. The company’s previous Z Flip 4 featured a smaller external display, so consumers are eager to see if Samsung has made significant improvements in this aspect. Industry experts predict that phone makers will ship 21.4 million units of foldable phones this year, marking a 50% increase from the previous year.

While details about the Galaxy Z Fold 5 remain scarce, rumors suggest that it will be an incremental upgrade rather than a radical departure from its predecessor, the Z Fold 4. In addition to the foldables, there is speculation about the unveiling of refreshed versions of the high-end Galaxy Tab S tablets and a new family of smartwatches following last year’s Galaxy Watch 5.

As the July 26 Galaxy Unpacked event approaches, tech enthusiasts and Samsung fans alike are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of these highly anticipated foldable devices.
