STC Solutions finalizes $53 million NEOM contracts
Arabian Internet and Communications Services Co., also known as Solutions by STC, signed Sunday numerous contracts with the Saudi Telecom Company to advance the creation of a modernized data center for smart city, NEOM.
With a valuation estimated at around $53.7 million, the contracts will set the initial groundwork to establish the needed infrastructure for the data centers, cloud platform in addition to other applications.
The project will include various sub-projects, such as developing and creating digital solutions for Neom Telco Park’s digital platform. In addition to providing data center support to elevate the project from a concept to applicable project delivery, according to Arab News.
In parallel, the Saudi Arabian city will also encompass data center campus enablement, system integration, infrastructure services, and physical security solutions.
Neom’s security solutions will be enabled by a digital platform allowing the smart city to deliver private cloud services to consumers, all while delivering solutions and technology maintenance and support.
Following the contract signing process’ finalization – which took place on October 24th, Neom’s data center construction plan will incorporate support services for three years and will be developed within one year from the signing date.
The Kingdom’s tech business city’s construction will take place in the Tabuk Province of north-western Saudi Arabia and will include smart city technologies, all while operating as a tourist harbor.
In early October, the economic zone of Neom, alongside renewable energy subsidiary FAS Energy obtained permission from the government to build and operate data centers in Saudi Arabia’s modern metropolis. The project’s first section is due for finalization by 2025.
The smart megaproject will be solely powered by sustainable energy marking a significant shift for the country to drift away from an oil-based country to a digital one.
