Decentralized Artificial Intelligence Could Be Tech Giants’ Biggest Nightmare

The Decentralized AI Society (DAIS), a new decentralized artificial intelligence project to combat the potential monopoly of tech giants.

Eight founding members have launched the Decentralized AI Society (DAIS), a new decentralized artificial intelligence project to combat the potential monopoly of tech giants and ensure fair AI usage through imposed regulations.

Industry leaders in Singapore have founded a non-profit organization under the name of Decentralized AI Society (DAIS), the purpose of it is to promote development of an open AI economy and limit the monopolization of the decentralized artificial intelligence system.

DAIS is working on promoting principles, technology standards and policies that insure effective decentralized artificial intelligence systems founded on self-sovereign, privacy-preserving data models, digital assets, open-source code, edge computation and decentralized infrastructure networks.

The eight founding members of the DAIS include CETI AI, Filecoin Foundation, Bloq, Hypercycle, Morpheus, Hemi, Odyssey and Lumerin.

“The decentralized AI society is acknowledging the fact that centralized platforms in the AI era have a massive head start,” Casey told CoinDesk in an interview on the sidelines of the Token2049 blockchain conference in Singapore on Tuesday.

According to DAIS, they managed to identify four main decentralized AI models that will limit the monopolization of the AI sector and these main issues, and they are as follows:

  • encouraging investment to the decentralized Ai platform which will eventually increase the competition for resources like graphical processing units (GPUs) and the data centers that compute together.
  • decentralized artificial intelligence society are developing certain policies to have more regulations over AI.
  • educating and raising awareness about AI decentralization and showcasing the monopolistic actions of tech giants to take over the AI market.
  • engineering new algorithms for disturbed learning models.

DAIS founder claimed that they have no other way to decentralize artificial intelligence but to fight tech giants that have the superior power to monopolize the market.

“What choice do we have, I never accept the idea that this is too difficult somebody has to resolve the challenge,” the founder said.

Where DAIS’ Importance Truly Lies

Decentralized AI projects are perceived as a much-needed step towards a more equal and fair AI industry as it pushes for extended collaboration and innovation among all AI companies.

Instead of having separate pillars in the AI industry, then collaborating these different organizations under a shared vision will make a difference. The Decentralized artificial Intelligence society will challenge the dominance of tech giants as well as create a better environment for small startups to thrive.

A shift towards transparency and inclusivity is much needed in addition to community-driven governance and through that decentralized AI society will intensify the push for ethical practices and allow new developers and entrepreneurs to help achieve future decentralized AI applications that empowers data privacy and benefits society as a whole.
