UK Israel Tech Hub and What You Should Know

Over 500 Israeli tech and non-tech companies operate in the United Kingdom (UK), and the UK Israel Tech Hub is located within the British Embassy in Israel.

This raises multiple questions about the relationship between the UK and Israel. The main aim of the organization is to secure private and public sector contracts for Israeli technology companies in the UK. Earlier reports from Palestine have also suggested that several Israeli tech firms act as fronts for Zionist intelligence agencies.

UK Israel Technology Collaboration

The UK Israel Tech Hub, part of the British Embassy in Jerusalem, is funded by British taxpayers. The organization is dedicated to promoting economic and technological interests that the UK has in Israel and is directly funded by the British Foreign Office, along with the departments of Trade and Media. Examining the individuals employed within the divisions of the British Embassy reveals how closely state interests are intertwined, shedding light on the UK Tech Hub’s stance in global affairs and UK-Israel trade relations.

Haim Shani, who was previously the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Finance, is currently the chairman of the UK Israel Tech Hub. Shani was awarded an Order of British Empire (OBE) by the late Queen Elizabeth for his work at the UK Israel Innovation Hub. In addition to his role at the Tech Hub, Shani is on the board of directors of Cellebrite, an Israeli intelligence company specializing in phone hacking. Through the UK Israel Tech Hub, Cellebrite secured a contract with the British police to hack phones in the UK. Cellebrite is led by alumni from Unit 8200 of the Israeli military.

Shani is also the director of NICE Systems, another Israeli company with a contract with the British police to handle parts of their investigations. NICE Systems also holds a contract in Scotland for facial recognition in CCTV.

At the End of the Day

This leads to several conclusions, the main one being that democracy sometimes feels like it only exists in the Oxford dictionary as a word without much real-world meaning. If true democracy were at play, social media would be flooded with the realities of what is happening in Palestine and would reflect that a majority of the British population aged between 18 and 24 are anti-Zionists. However, there is an imbalance of power favoring Israeli interests. For example, the company that monitors the Thames Water system in London is entirely led by alumni from the Talpiot unit of the Israeli military. This company obtains detailed information about the London water system and then sends it to Thames Water. Normally, such sensitive information about national infrastructure would not be accessible to external entities.

The UK Israel Tech Hub operates, but at what cost—potentially the safety and security of both British citizens and Palestinians.
