6G in China has been a major focus as the country strives to lead the next wave of communication technology, digital infrastructure, and the global industrial revolution. This push goes beyond expanding 5G and developing emerging 6G tech, to place China as the dominant force in the future global tech landscape.
With a strong emphasis on innovation, Beijing wants to be at the forefront of a new era of connectivity, creating a more integrated, smarter economy through cutting-edge technologies like 6G technology in China.
Who Is Leading in 6G Technology?
Zhang Yunming, Industry and Information Technology Vice-minister, highlighted the nation’s push to lead the evolution in 5G-Advanced and 6G technology in China, for the country’s industrial network upgrade.
“China has built the world’s most advanced and largest-scale information and communication network, with 5G applications integrated into 86 out of 97 major categories of the national economy,” Zhang said in a recent conference at Nanchang.
Although 6G is not yet implemented in China, businesses are encouraged to invest in 5G networks as a foundation. At the end, the goal is to establish a more robust, secure, and sustainable digital economy that can support continued economic transformation.
The advantages of 5G is greater connectivity, lower latency, and improved efficiency, are also key for staying competitive in today’s fast-paced digital landscape. By adopting 5G infrastructure and building data centers now, organizations prepare for a smooth transition to 6G in the future.
“The country has built the world’s largest and most advanced communications network,” highlighted Zhang, quoting China’s widespread use of digital technologies from AI to industrial internet applications across all major sectors.
Computing Power for Digital Growth
Along with its 6G communication technology ambitions, Beijing is pressing firmly in another direction, with the “computing power internet”, a new infrastructure that holds out to interconnect computing power, including AI and supercomputer power, nationwide.
Initiated by China’s top telecommunications companies and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the project will enable businesses to access computing capacity more easily, driving applications ranging from AI to manufacturing with intelligences.
Li Wei, deputy director of CAICT’s research institute on cloud computing and big data, explained how internet computing allows companies to tap into computing resources across the country at half of the cost of building their own infrastructure.
“They no longer need to invest in expensive infrastructure or cloud subscription costs. Instead, they can utilize computing power from a network of countrywide sources,” Wei said.
6G internet China innovation is particularly significant to small and medium businesses, which can now utilize computing power that was previously unavailable to them. The software also puts China at the forefront of global AI and supercomputing technological advancement, unleashing technological innovation and digital transformation.
“For every yuan invested in computing power, 3 to 4 yuan will be generated in economic growth,” said Wu Hequan, a member at Chinese Academy of Engineering, emphasized the economic advantage of boosting computing power, highlighting 6G’s value in China infrastructure for long-term economic development.
6G Future Scope
With the world driving towards automation and AI, China’s move to create a solid digital infrastructure puts it in a better position to be an innovator. From research on 6G technology architecture, 6G internet, and ongoing studies on 5G and 6G, China is becoming a pacesetter in the global race.
China’s innovations not only upgrade its industries but also lay the foundation for subsequent generations of AI-based breakthroughs. Future wise, this 6G communication technology revolution will enable real-time AI deployments that enhance efficiency and productivity. China is thereby creating new worldwide standards in data connectivity, driving cross-border digital collaboration and the scope of technological advancement.
