Level Zero Health, a female-founded medical device startup, raised $6.9 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed funding round to advance its life changing continuous hormone monitoring technology.
Launched two years ago, the wearable hormone monitor eliminates the need for invasive blood draws by measuring hormones through interstitial fluid.
Monitor Hormone Levels at Home
Level Zero Health’s purpose is to develop a wearable device for continuous hormone monitoring, tracking progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone. Unlike traditional methods of monitoring hormone levels, Level Zero Health’s non-invasive technology uses a patch for measuring hormones via interstitial fluid – bodil fluid between cells and blood plasma.
The at home hormone monitoring technology would provide real-time hormone feedback without irritation or repeated blood draws.
“The vision is to create a completely new market, the way the CGMs opened up a new whole category of diabetes care,” co-founder and CEO Ula Rustamova says, “we hope to create a device that will drive a wave of innovations in healthcare.”
The integration of a hormone monitoring device is another step into transitioning toward home-based healthcare, while giving people a simpler and more personalized medical experience.
Continuous Hormone Monitoring
While the long-term plan for the company is to develop a continuous hormone monitoring device, it is starting with a recurrent hormone testing one-time use prototype patch.
Designed for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), the patch will replace multiple invasive blood draws. The prototype uses microneedles that pierce just below the skin to deliver real-time, accurate hormone readings.
Level Zero Health plans to launch its first product for prescription by next year, targeting 90% correlation between patch readings and traditional blood tests.
The medtech company envisions a fully integrated continuous hormone monitor, much like the continuous glucose monitor (CGM) for diabetes, providing frictionless, real-time hormone tracking, allowing 24/7 monitoring for users.
New Era of MedTech for Everyone
Continuous hormone monitoring targets over 90% accuracy, aligning with standard blood tests. Level Zero Health is not only creating a new state for hormone monitoring but is also pioneering a new era in wearable healthcare technology.
Its innovative use of interstitial fluid to monitor hormones could change the way patients monitor and measure health indicators, creating a non-invasive, continuous solution that can potentially reshape the future of personalized healthcare.
