During Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Anker Solix, the solar and storage division of Anker, launched a game-changing product, a phone charging jacket that charges your devices as it keeps you warm and dry.
Called the “cloak,” this wearable tech jacket combines solar power and out of box fashion in one product, offering a glimpse of the future of on-the-go charging.
The Outdoor Phone Charger
The Anker rain jacket “cloak” included over two dozen solar cells made from perovskite, which is a flexible fabric-like mineral, making it an ultimate piece that captures solar energy to power devices. The solar powered jacket phone charger comes with 30-watt USB-C cable that links to a power bank or immediately to the person’s devices, enabling them to charge phone, tablet, or other electronic devices while being outdoors.
The wearable phone charging jacket is designed with a combination of fashion and innovation. Cloak resembles a rain jacket offering a lightweight and water-resistant exterior.
Solar panels are placed strategically across the jacket, with smaller triangular cells on the right arm and shoulder offering flexibility, and easier move for the arms. Moreover, the solar powered clothing features blue LED lights along the hood, adding a different aesthetic and also enhancing visibility in low-light conditions which improves safety at night.
The Future of Solar Wearable Tech
The Anker Solix cloak is yet to be developed but it highlights the rising trend of solar powered clothing. Anker Solix is releasing this month other innovative solar powered products like the EverFrost 2 Electric cooler and solar-powered umbrella. And the Cloak comes as an ongoing effort by the company to develop sustainable ways to charge devices.
Solar energy phone charger is paving the way for new fashioned category of wearable tech that looks cool and has a functional, sustainable purpose. Until now, Anker phone charging jacket is still in concept phases with no announced release date. Nevertheless, as the need for solar-powered products continues to grow, people are guaranteed to see more solar-powered wearables in the near future.
