Transforming AI Art into Stunning Poster Prints

ai art, ai poster print, ai,

The limited size of AI-generated images poses a challenge for printing at larger dimensions without sacrificing quality. Here’s How you can get great AI poster prints.

  • Cleverly using text prompts can instruct them to generate images resembling vector graphics, setting the stage for conversion.
  • Vectorizer.ai, a free online service, converts the generated PNG image into true vector graphics,

In recent years, generative AI art has mesmerized the world with its astonishing creations. However, a common challenge faced by enthusiasts is the limited resolution of these AI-generated images, making it difficult to print them at larger dimensions without losing quality. Fortunately, there’s a clever way to overcome this hurdle and transform AI art into amazing AI poster prints.

The Problem

Due to the resource-intensive nature of generating AI images, most AI art services produce images at relatively low resolutions. For instance, a standard AI image size might be 1,024 x 1,024 pixels. Although suitable for digital use, printing such images at poster size results in pixelation and blurriness, robbing the artwork of its potential impact.

Vector Graphics

Vector graphics are a type of computer graphics that use geometric primitives, such as points, lines, curves, and shapes, to represent images. Unlike raster graphics (such as JPEG or PNG images), which are made up of a grid of pixels, vector graphics are created using mathematical equations that define the position, shape, and color of each element. In other words, Vector graphics offer a solution to the AI image size problem.

The Process

Unfortunately, most generative AI art services cannot directly create images in the standard SVG format used for vector graphics. However, you can cleverly manipulate the text prompts given to these services to instruct them to generate images in the style of vector graphics.

For example, by adding the phrase “vector art” or “vector graphics” to the text prompt, the AI art service will create an image that resembles vector graphics. Although the generated image is still in the PNG format, it lays the foundation for the conversion process. One step closer to amazing AI poster prints.

Once You Have Your Image

To convert the PNG image into true vector graphics, a free online service called Vectorizer.ai comes to the rescue. Users can upload the PNG image to Vectorizer.ai, and it will generate a preview of the fully vectorized result. The difference becomes evident when zooming into the image; the regular PNG image becomes pixellated and blurry, while the vector graphics (SVG) retain their sharpness and clarity.

And Now to Print

Once the fully vectorized SVG image is downloaded from Vectorizer.ai, it can be further converted into a PDF format for printing. There are online services available, such as Cloud Convert, that can convert SVG to PDF. However, for more control over size and quality, Adobe Illustrator is recommended. Simply open the SVG file in Illustrator, click “File > Save As,” choose PDF as the format, and select the “High-Quality Print” preset. This will generate a fantastic, high-quality PDF that can be printed at any desired size.

Wrap-up

The combination of generative AI art and vector graphics has opened up exciting possibilities for art enthusiasts and creatives alike. Despite this being a great way to get creative, especially if you can barely draw a stickman like me, there are the ethics of using AI instead of paying an artist to actually do the work. in most cases, it’s not a big deal but what if you wanted a piece in the art style of a specific artist who is still alive and well?
