  • The recent iOS 16.6 update fortifies Apple users’ security with over a dozen significant enhancements.

On July 30th, Bloomberg’s Mark Gunman revealed rumored specs of Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 15 Pro models. This news hits the stand as Apple releases its recent iOS update, iOS 16.6, tightening security.

According to the report and the iPhone 15 leak, Apple has been diligently working for several years to achieve a seamless, all-screen iPhone experience, progressively increasing the display size and reducing the notch size in subsequent iterations. Now, the iPhone parent is ready to take it a step further with the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro series, expected in September this year.

The low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO) technology is set to play a pivotal role in the iPhone 15 Pro’s design transformation as it allows the creation of thin bezels on the iPhone without sacrificing the strength and durability of the smartphone. Initially used in the Apple Watch Series 7, LIPO enables Apple to shrink the border size on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max 2023 models from 2.2 millimeters to an even slimmer 1.5 millimeters. By significantly reducing the bezels, Apple aims to provide users with an immersive display experience and maximize the screen-to-body ratio.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to include a 3nm A17 chip, ultra-thin bezels, a titanium chassis, stacked battery technology, and enhanced RAM. Notably, all the iPhone 15 models will adopt USB-C technology instead of the traditional Lightning port.

One of the most talked-about features in the new lineup is the ‘Action button.’ Apple’s inadvertent leak via the iOS 17 beta release has confirmed its existence and listed nine different functions for the button, including Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate, and Voice Memos. The inclusion of such a button has sparked mixed reactions among enthusiasts, with some lamenting the departure of the mute switch.

Despite the anticipation surrounding the iPhone 15 Pro series, potential buyers may need to brace themselves for higher price tags. Reports suggest that all four iPhone models are likely to see an increase in prices across the United States.

Amidst these exciting iPhone 15 news, Apple is also focusing on enhancing its users’ iOS security. The recent release of iOS 16.6 offers more than a dozen significant iOS security enhancements, leaving user-facing features updates for iOS 17.

Apple has been transparent about the vulnerabilities it addressed in this update, urging users to upgrade their devices to the latest version to protect themselves from potential threats.

The iOS 16.6 update includes fixes for security flaws in categories such as kernel, Find My, WebKit, and Apple Neural Engine. Notably, two of these vulnerabilities were actively exploited by hackers. Apple took swift action, with the WebKit issue already addressed in the Apple iPhone Rapid Security Response iOS 16.5.1 (c) update and the kernel flaw fixed with iOS 15.7.1. The iOS 16.6 update takes these security measures even further, ensuring iPhone users’ safety and data protection.
