In an interview with Insidetelecom, Chief Executive Officer Prateek Choudhary explained how Syntelligence AI is using advanced AI to combat global telecom scams, aiming to restore trust and security across voice networks worldwide.
Founded in 2025 as a joint venture among five major telecom operators, including Deutsche Telekom, e&, Singtel, SK Telecom, and SoftBank, Syntelligence AI is utilizing AI to address one of the industry’s most pervasive challenges: scam and spam calls.
The startup’s mission is to create solutions that not only protect telecom customers but also strengthen trust in the voice communication ecosystem.
“Our mission is to explore how we can leverage AI to solve the biggest problems within the telecom domain,” said CEO Prateek Choudhary to Insidetelecom.
He continued to state, “that essentially is our mandate, and that’s what we’re going to focus on.”
Choudhary clarified that the trust platform and scam detection system represent only the company’s first product, with additional AI-driven solutions already planned beyond this initial offering.
The company emphasizes global applicability, even as its solutions can be tailored to meet specific regional requirements. Choudhary explained that the joint venture structure allows equal participation from all partners, ensuring collaborative decision-making while maintaining the startup’s operational independence.
Building AI to Restore Trust in Voice Communications
At the center of Syntelligence AI’s strategy is what the company calls a trust platform, an AI-based system designed to identify telecom scam and spam calls across the full lifecycle of a phone conversation.
The concept emerged from discussions with telecom operators and everyday users affected by fraudulent calls, a growing problem across the global telecom industry.
“Telco industries connect people through voice channels, and today that is exploited by scammers left, right and center,” Choudhary explained. “That trust essentially has been broken, and we are trying to bring that trust back.”
Using machine learning and telecom network data, the company is building classification models that analyze call patterns to determine whether a call is legitimate or fraudulent. The system will generate a “scam score,” enabling networks to flag suspicious activity and potentially warn users before damage occurs.
The technology also aims to provide real-time alerts during phone conversations, helping users avoid sharing sensitive information when a call appears suspicious.
“We are using advanced voice AI technologies to help customers get feedback in real time when they’re on a conversation,” Choudhary said. “If it turns into a scam call, we will give them an alert that says, ‘Don’t give out your credit card number or your PIN.’”
Data Collaboration and Privacy at the Core
Syntelligence AI operates through a joint venture structure with five telecom partners that share equal ownership and board representation. The structure allows the startup to collaborate closely with telecom operators while maintaining independence in product development.
According to Choudhary, this partnership model also provides access to valuable telecom data while respecting strict privacy regulations.
“Data privacy in industries such as telecom and banking is of utmost importance,” he said. “When we design our architecture, privacy and security are built in from the ground up.”
Instead of moving sensitive telecom data across systems, the company designs solutions that can operate within telecom networks themselves, ensuring compliance with regional regulations that may restrict data transfers.
The company is currently testing its first product with its founding telecom partners before expanding operators outside the founding group. Choudhary noted that early validation from those partners will be key before the technology rolls out globally.
A Vision to Protect the World’s Phone Calls
While Syntelligence AI may eventually explore applications in adjacent sectors, Choudhary said the company’s near-term focus will remain firmly on telecommunications.
“Telco is a massive industry,” he said. “Most people on the planet have at least one mobile phone, and there is huge potential for AI to create meaningful disruption.”
As the company scales its technology and partnerships, Syntelligence AI aims to address one of the most widespread digital threats facing consumers today.
“Our success criteria,” Choudhary concluded, “is that people around the world are protected from scams.”
