iOS 18 update along with the features will be revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June this year. An announcement regarding the release of iOS 18 update in September will be made.

Apple has heightened the expectations of their users according to Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg’s article. Gurman stated that iOS 18 update is the “biggest” update any iPhone user will ever seek to experience in the history of iOS updates. “I’m told that the new operating system is seen within the company as one of the biggest iOS updates — if not the biggest — in the company’s history,” Gurman wrote.
Beeper Wasn’t a Keeper for Apple’s Messages
In November of 2023, a big announcement was made by Apple regarding the approval of cross-texting between Apple and Android users, conditional upon having RCS support with the release of iOS 18 update. Beeper mini was discontinued in 2023 for cross-application usage and retained solely for Apple users.
AI Via iOS 18 Update
With the recent widespread adoption of AI, Gurman stated that AI will be embedded in the core of iOS 18 update through our one and only Siri. He mentioned that this “should improve how both Siri and the Messages app can field questions and auto-complete sentences.”

Gurman stated that Apple excessively explored the use of generative AI in many of its applications, such as Apple Music, Pages, Keynote, and Xcode. Large Language models (LLMs) are embedded in Siri in order to allow the user to complete tougher requests in a more user-friendly manner. The LLM feature also includes an integration in the Shortcut app.
