Digital Realty brings AWS 100G service to Dublin, Seattle data centers

Digital Realty, the largest global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center, colocation, and interconnection solutions, announced today the deployment of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect 100Gbps capability at its Seattle and Dublin data centers.

The service works at the Westin Building Exchange in Seattle and on its Interxion Dublin Campus.

Digital Realty’s platform connects 290 centers of data exchange with over 4,000 participants around the world, enabling enterprise customers to scale digital business and interconnect distributed workflows on a first of its kind global data center platform.

As companies adopt new technologies and solutions such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and IoT on a massive scale, the explosive growth of digital business presents new challenges as data takes its own gravity, becomes heavier, denser, and more expensive.

Move bandwidth-intensive workloads

As such, the new AWS Direct Connect 100 Gbit / s is tailored to allow easy access to larger data sets, which enables high availability, reliability, and lower latency. This will enable customers to seamlessly move bandwidth-intensive workloads – and break the barriers of data gravity.

In addition, customers gain access to a strategic IT infrastructure that can aggregate and manage data with less design time and effort, as well as provide access to AWS with one of the fastest, highest quality AWS network connections available.

How does the platform help?

As an AWS Outposts Ready Partner, Digital Realty’s global platform is optimized to support the needs of data-intensive, secure hybrid IT deployments.

It also supports AWS Outposts deployments by providing access to more than 40 AWS Direct Connect locations worldwide to meet local processing, compliance, and storage needs while optimizing costs and performance.

Combined with the availability of AWS Direct Connect 100 Gbps connections, the Westin Building Exchange and Interxion Dublin locations are ideal meeting places for customers to overcome the challenges of data gravity and to open up new possibilities with their AWS Outposts deployments.

“As emerging technologies like AI, VR and blockchain move from the edge to the mainstream, companies need a new level of performance in their hybrid solutions,” said Tom Sly, General Manager, AWS Direct Connect.

“Deployment of AWS Direct Connect at 100 Gbps at Digital Realty facilities in Seattle and Dublin is critical to our strategy of helping customers develop more complex applications with increased flexibility, scalability and reliability. We are excited to see the value Digital Realty’s PlatformDIGITAL brings to our mutual customers,” he noted.
