Melania Trump joins NFT hype
Former first lady Melania Trump revealed on Thursday plans to join the non-fungible token (NFT) hype by selling its “Melania’s Vision” watercolor painting.
The NFT, which also plays an audio recording of Mrs. Trump’s voice, says: “My vision is, look forward with inspiration, strength, and courage.”
In her statement of micro-blogging platform, Twitter, the former first lady, highlighted that all the financial proceeds would go to helping children aging out of the U.S. foster care system. However, she has yet to specify the name of the charity or the monetary amount to invest into her new objective.
The NFT costs one SOL, a cryptocurrency that operates on the Solana blockchain. At the time of the announcement, one SOL’s value was $181.34 a piece, according to CoinMarketCap.
According to Mrs. Trump’s press release, credit card payments for her painting’s NFT will also be accepted through the cryptocurrency exchange company MoonPay Limited.
It is worth mentioning that a spokesperson of the financial company debunked the press release’s declaration, stating: “We are not partnered with Melania, nor can users purchase her NFT collection using credit card payments through MoonPay.”
Since the initial announcement, no representative published any clarifications on Mrs. Trump’s behalf, and her office did not reply to any request for comment.
