Relation Between SpaceX and the Pentagon

Relation Between SpaceX and the Pentagon

When it comes to finding the appropriate party to serve as its distributor, rocket manufacturer, and technology guru, the Department of Defense (DoD) fixed its sight on SpaceX, multi-billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s aerospace company. In one of the U.S.’s attempts to empower its stance in the fight of the powerhouses with China, the relation between SpaceX and the Pentagon start in June 2021 with the signing of two contracts with with a budget of almost $159 million.

The agreement between the DoD’s headquarters and the aerospace company states that SpaceX is to deliver Falcon9 rockets – a partially reusable two-stage-to-orbit-medium-lift.

The move came as a direct approach to empower the U.S. military and Air Force infrastructure to adapt to the hasty takeover of technological development from one aspect and to empower further its infrastructure against the Chinese military technological development from another.

Compete with the Chinese People’s Army

The DoD has finally reached the point of accepting the state in which it is heavily lacking the innovative technological approach that would place it at the helm of military power as it rivals two of the world’s most potent military superpowers.

What the Pentagon truly needs, in this case, is a fundamental structural change and redirection, leaving it to seek out some of Silicon Valley’s tech moguls that can present themselves as a beneficial contributor to the military headquarters to match the Chinese level of military properness.

SpaceX winning the Pentagon contracts has placed it in a position of power as the leading distributor to the military headquarters. The U.S. government manages to modernize its technological development to compete with the East. SpaceX has become the Pentagon’s latest power card to the intensifying threats looming in the background from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s growing technological strengths.

The aerospace company and the Pentagon contract will jointly develop a new rocket to blast into space to deliver almost 80 tons of cargo and weapons. The SpaceX Pentagon weapons cargo space rocket will deliver the military shipment to anywhere in the world in nothing more than an hour.

Beijing’s comprehensive adoption of technology began 15 years ago, which the Pentagon has failed to discover throughout the years. The Chinese military power now threatens the U.S. military’s power capabilities and capacity to fortify its technological infrastructure.

The Biden Administration now faces the throttle of dealing with China’s intense military growth. Yet, there is still hope as long as the Pentagon tries to break through its confined bureaucracy and internal turfs and work together to secure the country from Chinese technological development.

At the moment, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is surpassing the digital capabilities than that of the Pentagon as it leverages rising technologies, ranging from autonomous systems, quantum, cyber, and much more.

It could be that Elon Musk’s SpaceX Pentagon’s last two contracts, in addition to the contract previously signed, will only be the beginning for a long due, and if all goes well, a long-lasting partnership between the Silicon Valley aerospace company and the DoD’s headquarters.

Summary

The relation betweent SpaceX and the Pentagon and the promise to deliver shipments at less than half of the cost of that of the military could only be the first step towards launching a new mission of merging political and economic power with the sole purpose of heightening the U.S. defense and technological infrastructure. The Chinese government is investing its all into the potential of technological development, with the military forces modernizing their equipment and weaponry. The world is closely observing the modernization of its forces.
