X Regrets Past Actions, Takes Measures to Gain Back User Trust 

 Elon Musk announced that his micro-blogging platform is hiring new employees to strengthen its X content moderation and security measures, to address past concerns and meet new regulatory requirements.  

Last month, X posted two dozen job opportunities in its safety and cybersecurity teams revealing that the social platform is focusing on pushing its teams to provide better safety and security measures for its users.  

Positions vary from directors of strategic response to security engineers and threat intelligence specialists. 

Past Decisions, Present Repercussions 

Following Musk’s $44 billion take cover, X drastically reduced its workforce, including a massive reduction in its safety and trust team. In April 2023, the company reduced its staff by 6,000 leaving around 1,500 employees, negatively impacting its ‘Trust and Safety’ department, with reports indicating that 80% of its staff have been laid off since the takeover.  

After failing in the trust and safety team X content moderation was immediately affected, with the platform’s ability to manage content moderation and security has increased effectively. Overall, X’s safety workforce was reduced from 4,062 to 2,849 employees, which raised concerns about X’s ability to handle complicated regulatory issues and safeguard user data.  

The global trust and safety department kept on shrinking until the end of May 2023, therefore X took the initiative to strengthen its regulatory department and cybersecurity teams. 

X company claimed that it might establish a new Trust and Safety center in Austin, Texas, which will include100 full-time content moderator employees, with the potential of opening in other places. This expansion is a key step of X’s broader strategy to rebuild its safety framework and improve its abilities to manage both content and cybersecurity threats. 

Future Strategy Adjustments 

Recently, X faced problems with Brazil for failing to limit the spread of misinformation and Musk himself has been criticized of promoting harmful and hateful content and misinformation. As the billionaire’s favorite company moves forward with its initiative, simultaneously, it is putting a lot of effort to gain back users’ trust and enhance its platform’s regulatory features. Progress is crucial for addressing past mistakes and meeting regulatory requirements.  

The stakes have never been higher, and the success of this initiative is crucial for X and by expanding its work force and putting all focus on security and content moderation. The mainstream networking platform is working hard to strengthen its position in this digital landscape.
