OpenAI Welcomes GPT-5 in 2024

GPT-5 OpenAI Welcomes GPT-5 in 2024.

Farewell to 2023, and as OpenAI bids adieu to GPT-4, it welcomes GPT-5 for the year 2024.

OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman hinted during a 2022 conference a continued development of advanced language models like GPT-5.

What to Expect from GPT-5?

After GPT-3 and GPT-4 language models, GPT-5 is potentially going to be more advanced and has increased in its learning abilities, going beyond texting and coding, it now can actually access and exploit information from the real world directly from its integrations with external knowledge bases.

“The step up from GPT-3 to GPT-4 was so dramatic, that you would be a fool not to try it again,” says Oren Etzioni, the former chief executive of the Allen Institute for AI.

Just texting, not anymore…It won’t be restricted to just text, it will handle various types of information including audio, images, and coding. It’ll offer all of the above in a more effective mode.

Economic and Electoral Ramifications in 2024

GPT-5 has its positive economic impact on different sectors:

  • GPT-5 can produce high-quality and interactive content across different formats, transforming advertising, marketing, and media production.
  • The fifth multimodal will offer personalized learning and interactive materials, and automated assessments, thus revolutionizing the education landscape.
  • Versatile GPT-5 can digest massive amounts of data, generating new hypotheses to elevate scientific and technological breakthroughs.

In 2024, over two billion individuals are expected to participate in elections across various countries, including the US, India, and the UK.

Speaking of economic impact, as it is the core of any country’s development, it affects the political divide, where it can be used to fact-check claims and statements in real-time, endorsing informative and transparent debates among candidates and voters. GPT-5 can be used to design from scratch customized campaigns to reach a targeted audience, increasing voter turnout and engagement, particularly for those less involved in the political process.

“I think we’re going to see deepfakes and their impact placed under the microscope. We’ve seen concerns about their use already in Bangladesh, Slovakia, and Turkey,” says Nathan Benaich, the founder of investment firm Air Street Capital and the co-author of the annual State of AI report.

“The evidence about their effectiveness is ambiguous, but we should definitely expect US and European regulators to start taking note,” he added.

Witnessing Another 300 Million Job Displacements?

We still haven’t forgotten the impact left by the jobs people have lost due to ChatGPT!

“A recent Goldman Sachs study found that generative AI tools could, in fact, impact 300 million full-time jobs worldwide, which could lead to a “significant disruption” in the job market,” published Business Insider.

So, GPT-5 raises concerns regarding potential job losses in creative fields, especially that it is attempting to mimic human intelligence and planning abilities. It’s crucial for large models like GPT-5 to bear the responsibility of ethical use and embody equality, ensuring that EVERYONE has access to and can benefit from it, not just a SELECT FEW.
