AI-Powered Shopping Assistant from Amazon

Alphabet's Wing drone delivery company has introduced its latest large-scale drone, capable of carrying substantial payloads.

As part of its ongoing generative AI experimentation, Amazon has released a new AI tool designed to answer customer inquiries about products. The most recent update to Amazon’s mobile app invites users to ask questions about a particular product, and it quickly responds by summarizing details taken from listings and reviews.

Users can utilize the question box on a product page to inquire about the item via the AI tool, which is capable of handling queries akin to those posed to AI chatbots.A representative for Amazon, Maria Boschetti, stated that the company is testing this feature to improve the shopping experience by quickly using generative AI to answer frequently asked product questions.

With this invention, consumers won’t have to waste time scrolling through lengthy product lists or review pages in order to find the information they need. Unlike OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the Amazon tool is better at responding to creative requests than it is at starting a conversation.

Engineered to stay contextually relevant, the tool displays an error message if it encounters difficulty in providing answers to questions. Amazon has recently integrated numerous AI tools into its platform, including AI-generated summaries of product reviews and features for external vendors in listing writing and image creation for advertisements.

Among Amazon’s AI endeavors, the company has introduced the AI-powered chatbot Q, offered the generative AI service Bedrock to Amazon Web Services customers, and implemented generative AI within its cloud-based division AWS. CEO Andy Jassy underscores the transformative impact of generative AI on customer experiences, noting its application in predicting inventory and optimizing routes for drivers.

Through AWS, Amazon launched the Titan Image Generator last November, enabling companies to request image generation through text. This feature also provides access to renowned AI models like Stable Diffusion, Claude, and Llama 2 for Amazon’s customers.
