Beyond the main questions of power, concerns about AI and moral decline in humanity bias and influence are becoming increasingly tangible.
While many users view AI systems as neutral tools, evidence suggests otherwise. A recent evaluation of major AI chatbots revealed patterns of ideological bias, with systems often leaning in political directions.
“What we found was a general ideological bias, not just in a particular model, but across the spectrum,” said Matthew Burtell, a senior policy analyst, noting that many systems tend to lean center-left.
This bias is not merely reflective regarding AI morality but potentially persuasive.
“AI is persuasive, and it also leans left,” Burtell added. “So if you combine these two things, it may certainly have an influence on people’s beliefs about different policies.”

This combination of unclear nature, scale, and perceived neutrality raises critical risks. AI does not simply process information; it shapes how information is presented, understood and acted upon.
Over time, these subtle influences can alter public opinion, legal interpretations, and operational decisions without users fully realizing it.
At the same time, the broader structural challenge remains when it comes to moral AI. Users have limited leverage over the companies developing these systems, while those companies have little incentive to constrain their own power.
Efforts such as privacy movements and calls for “responsible” AI morality offers some hope, but they remain fragmented and uneven.
The larger concern is not necessarily an immediate catastrophic failure, but a gradual erosion of public authority that would perhaps lead to AI and morality.
As AI morality systems become more embedded in governance, economics, and daily life, the ability to create rules and shape collective outcomes is increasingly concentrated in private hands.
The question is no longer if moral AI will be governed, but by the main point is by whom it will governed and in whose interest.
