Global communications company Telefonica has recently been recognised as a Leader in Gartner’s 2019 Magic Quadrant for IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide, for the sixth year running. An improvement on its “completeness of vision”, which is one of the two aspects the Magic Quadrant assesses together with the “ability to execute”.

The company believes the main reasons for this recognition are the seriousness and distance of its vision in the short, medium and long term. Their accolade recognizes their ability to execute the majority of services in varied and multifaceted environments, where the clients require a mixture of both consulting and engineering capabilities, development of tailor-made solutions and its industrialization and management.

Telefonica now boasts more than 30 million IoT connections worldwide and has very strong assets like Kite. Kite is an in-house solution platform on which to manage IoT devices with a devoted network organization, globally deployed and hosted in the cloud to be available and also manageable everywhere via web or API. Since last November, IoT/big data services, together with cloud and security services, are part of Telefonica Tech. This is the new unit with which Telefonica wants to increase the growth and development of these new digital businesses.
